Lettuce Music — Creator Terms

Effective: 2026-08-26.

Plain-English summary: Publishing on Lettuce is free. You keep ownership of your work. You grant us the right to stream it on Lettuce properties (including in-car dashboards) and remove it whenever you want. We do not pay creators for plays. If we ever launch a paid program, it will be a new opt-in — not retroactive.

By uploading audio, video, podcast, or artwork content ("Content") to Lettuce Radio, Lettuce Music, or any other Lettuce property (collectively, "Lettuce"), you agree to these terms.

§1 — Who can publish

You must (a) hold an active Lettuce account, (b) be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher), and (c) not appear on any US, EU, or UK sanctions list.

§2 — What you can upload

Original recordings, compositions, videos, and podcasts that you own or have written permission to publish. You may not upload Content that:

  • infringes any third-party copyright, trademark, right of publicity, or privacy right,
  • contains major-label recordings, commercial samples cleared only for personal use, or unlicensed cover songs of songs still in copyright,
  • depicts sexual content involving minors, non-consensual acts, real violence, or content unlawful in the jurisdiction where uploaded,
  • promotes hate, targeted harassment, or unlawful activity.

We use automated fingerprinting (AcoustID, MusicBrainz, and — for video — Cloudflare Stream Content Moderation) and human review. Content that fails verification is not published; repeated violations may result in account termination.

§3 — Verification of rights

For Content uploaded under the creator_owned license tier, you must submit a signed rights warranty at publish time affirming that you own or control all rights necessary to grant Lettuce the license in §5. The warranty is stored with your upload record and constitutes the legal foundation of our publication.

§4 — No Compensation

Lettuce is not obligated to pay you any monetary compensation for uploading, storing, transmitting, streaming, or otherwise making available your Content on Lettuce properties. No royalty, per-play rate, or revenue share accrues on account of these terms.

Lettuce may — but is not required to — introduce paid creator programs in the future. Any such program will be governed by separate terms; you must expressly opt in. Uploading Content under these terms does not entitle you to enrollment in any future paid program and does not create any retroactive claim to compensation for plays occurring before enrollment.

§5 — License to Lettuce

You grant Lettuce a non-exclusive, worldwide, sublicensable, transferable, royalty-free license to reproduce, encode, transcode, store, distribute, transmit, stream, publicly perform, publicly display, and create derivative works of your Content solely for the purpose of operating, promoting, and distributing Lettuce properties, including but not limited to:

  • Lettuce.stream, Lettuce.radio, and other Lettuce web properties;
  • Lettuce mobile applications;
  • In-car and connected-device surfaces including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Android Automotive OS, RadioDNS-compliant head units, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Sonos;
  • Embeddable player widgets displayed on third-party websites;
  • Lettuce editorial, promotional, and marketing materials.

This license persists while your Content remains published on Lettuce plus a 90-day tail after removal to accommodate cache propagation and legal-hold obligations. You retain all ownership and remaining rights in your Content.

§6 — Warranty of Rights

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or control all rights necessary to grant the §5 license;
  • Your Content does not infringe any third-party right;
  • All information you provide during upload — including artist name, title, release year, and license classification — is accurate;
  • If your Content contains a sample, cover, or interpolation, you have cleared all required rights.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Lettuce and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, damages, liability, or cost (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from a breach of this warranty.

§7 — Discovery Signals

By publishing, you consent to Lettuce displaying your Content's play count, save count, repost count, follower count, and genre classification publicly on Lettuce properties. Listener country of origin, playback surface, and completion percentage are analytics we compute and show only to you in your creator dashboard; we do not share individual-listener identity with creators.

§8 — Content removal and account termination

You may remove your Content or delete your creator account at any time via /creator/settings. Removal takes effect within 72 hours, subject to the 90-day cache propagation tail in §5. Lettuce may remove Content that violates these terms, applicable law, or the rights of others, at any time and without prior notice.

§9 — DMCA and takedown

Lettuce complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and analogous international takedown regimes. Notices to copyright@lettuce.stream. Repeat infringers are terminated.

§10 — Governing law, dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes are resolved by binding arbitration under the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules, seated in Wilmington, Delaware, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property.

§11 — Changes

We may amend these terms. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days before taking effect; continued upload activity after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with a change, remove your Content and delete your account before the effective date.

Privacy Addendum — Creator Analytics

We process the following data about you and your Content:

  • Account identifiers (uid, email, IP at upload time);
  • Content metadata (title, artist name, description, genre, artwork);
  • The rights warranty you submit;
  • Per-play analytics: listener country (country-level only, never individual identity), playback surface (radio / on-demand / embed / in-car), completion percentage, save/repost events;
  • Aggregate discovery signals (play count, follower count, trending rank).

We use this data to:

  • Operate Lettuce and provide you with a creator dashboard;
  • Recommend your Content to listeners via our radio and discovery algorithms;
  • Enforce these terms (fingerprinting, moderation, DMCA response);
  • Improve product performance.

Aggregate discovery signals (play counts, follower counts, trending ranks, artist names, artwork) are public on Lettuce properties. Per-listener analytics are visible only to you. We do not sell your personal data.

We retain your creator record for seven years after the last upload or account activity to satisfy tax, audit, and dispute-resolution obligations. You may request export or deletion at any time via /creator/settings — deletion requests are processed within 30 days, subject to the retention obligations described above.
